New heated rivalry brewing between Montgomery, Dothan soccer teams

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A soccer matchup promising to give fans the perfect balance of intensity and competitiveness is set to get the 2025 season started as Montgomery United prepares to face one of its fiercest opponents in Dothan United.

The game will take place in Montgomery on May 10 at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex Championship Stadium. That’s located at 300 Brown Springs Road, across from the Post Office on Winton Blount Boulevard.

This will be the first game in the USL League Two season for Montgomery United as they look to make a strong impression at home. Dothan United is entering year No. 2 looking to make some changes after failing to make a playoff berth last season.

“This is the perfect way to start the season,” Sporting Director and General Manager Manny Sanchez said. “The energy between these two clubs is unmatched, and with both teams fighting for their first win of the season, it’s going to be a battle from the first whistle.”

Tickets for the May event are available online.

Regardless of which team wins the opening match, they’ll face each other in a rematch on May 17, with Montgomery United traveling to Dothan’s territory.
