As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve locally and across the country, we will provide updates here about how our Y is responding during the pandemic.
RESOURCES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS
YMCA AND CDC CORONAVIRUS STATEMENT
YMCA of Greater Montgomery is committed to safeguarding the health of our members and staff. The National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is closely monitoring an outbreak of a respiratory disease commonly known as the coronavirus, or COVID-19. We can all do our part to prevent the spread of illness in our community.
The CDC recommends these everyday preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases including:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (60% or more alcohol).
- Always wash your hands while preparing food, before eating, after using the toilet, after blowing your nose or coughing, after handling animal products, and after touching garbage.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, and then dispose of the tissue.
- Frequently disinfect touched objects and surfaces.
- Stay home if you or your children are sick and avoid close contact with people who are sick.
LATEST YMCA MONTGOMERY UPDATE:
April 5, 2020
For your convenience, we have built a Virtual Y. Through our Virtual Y, you will find unique health and wellness classes through which you can participate in each day. We Livestream some of these classes to you on our Virtual Y live page. Also, we have a virtual wellness challenge that should help get you moving and stay active. We offer these quarterly as a member value each year, and while this quarter will be a little different, we want to still be able to connect with you. Join us in our “Spring into Summer” challenge and let’s see how creative we can get with our workouts.
Finally, we invite you to join your friends and neighbors for our Virtual Strides for Kids 5K. With personal trainers curating song playlists and providing motivation, you don’t want to miss out on the fun while supporting our community.
We know we are Stronger Together and can only advance our help to those who need it most in our community through the continued support of your membership. We look forward to connecting together in new ways over these next few weeks.
While we are connecting with you, please know we are serving our community as well by providing Essential Childcare to first responders and healthcare workers in our community as well as providing over 9,000 meals a week to children who otherwise wouldn’t get a meal due to school being out of session. To learn about our work, visit the Brown Bag Bus page.
Should you need to contact us, please e-mail us at [email protected] or call us at 334.269.4362. We will return phone calls and e-mails within 24 to 48 hours.
