We are excited to welcome Deon McNair to the YMCA of Greater Montgomery as the Executive Director of East YMCA! Previously, Deon served as the Executive Director of the Wichita Falls Downtown YMCA, where he exemplified the organization’s core values and made a significant impact on the community. Since joining the YMCA in 2013 as a school-age counselor in Augusta, Georgia, Deon has dedicated over a decade to enhancing the lives of children and families through diverse programming.

Under Deon’s leadership, the Wichita Falls Downtown YMCA transformed from an older membership base into a vibrant, family-oriented center. He spearheaded initiatives such as monthly free community nights, successfully engaging over 50 families in recent events. His strong commitment to community engagement is reflected in his partnerships with local nonprofits and the Housing Authority, reinforcing the Y’s role as a leading nonprofit dedicated to service.

Deon has also been instrumental in increasing membership, adding over 700 new units in just six months. He managed a comprehensive remodel of the lobby and locker rooms, introducing a state-of-the-art E-Sports Lounge and Tiny Town for youth. His collaborations with local universities to sponsor innovative programming further highlight his forward-thinking approach.

Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Deon has served as a role model in his community, mentoring young men and providing support to veterans dealing with PTSD and other disabilities across various cities, including Columbus, GA; Selma, AL; Pensacola, FL; and Houston, TX. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Columbus State University.

With more than 10 years of experience in urban educational settings and nonprofit organizations, Deon is a dynamic and competent professional adept at managing all facets of program operations, including administration, outreach, and relationship cultivation. He is an adaptable leader skilled in multitasking to achieve program success while developing opportunities that align with organizational goals. Recognized for his exceptional communication skills, strategic thinking, and passion for youth advocacy, Deon continues to make a positive difference in the community. Outside of his role at the Y, he enjoys exploring his culinary passion, creating delicious dishes that bring joy to those around him.
