YMCA OF GREATER MONTGOMERY

Rock Steady punching out Parkinson’s disease

1 million people live with Parkinson’s disease in the U.S., with 16,000 in the state of Alabama. While there is no cure for Parkinson’s, there are a variety of ways that can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.

The Bell Road YMCA in Montgomery offers a program, called Rock Steady, specifically for people living with Parkinson’s disease.

The program offers classes that work on coordination, balance, and strength which have been greatly affected by the disease. This includes many activities such as non-contact boxing and a dance class.

The Rock Steady boxing classes are available Monday – Thursday at any participating YMCA. You can register on the YMCA’s website.
