POWER 30 ACL INJURY PREVENTION AND STRENGTHENING PROGRAM
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries are one of the most common knee joint injuries in athletes, with 250,000 occurring annually in the U.S. They occur in females much more frequently than in males who are playing the same landing and cutting sports. This prevention program consists of a warm-up, stretching, strengthening, plyometrics, and sport-specific abilities to address potential deficits in the strength and coordination of the stabilizing muscles around the knee joint. It is important to use proper technique during all of the exercises. Any Streaks Player ages 12 and older are welcome to join. This will be offered twice a week for 5 weeks, each session is 1 hour in length. The end goal is to optimize muscle balance and improve the athletes biomechanics, particularly with jumping and cutting type movements that typically stress the ACL.
