YMCA of Greater Montgomery Celebrates their Annual Impact to the Community and Announces New Leadership

Montgomery, AL – The YMCA of Greater Montgomery hosted its annual celebration at Whitewater, marking a momentous occasion with over $1,270,000 raised during their annual campaign. This incredible achievement allows the Y to remain a cornerstone for the community and provide essential services.
Honoring Heroes and Celebrating Success
The evening acknowledged the tireless efforts of volunteers who make the YMCA’s mission a reality. The following people were recognized as volunteers of the year: Wilson YMCA: Jennifer Atkins, Bell Road YMCA: Sharon Sexton, East YMCA: Brittany Bass, Camp Chandler YMCA: Hank Hutchinson, Wetumpka YMCA: Alice Crenshaw, Britton YMCA: Susannah Cleveland, Downtown YMCA: Terrall Hart, Cleveland YMCA: Dwayne Farrior, Kershaw YMCA: Carmen Moore-Zeigler, Midtown YMCA: Marcus McKay, Grandview YMCA: Leonard Thomas, and Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex: Julie DaBoubi.
John 21:17 Awards, recognizing individuals who exemplify the Y’s core values, were presented to Steve Russell and Knox Argo. Additionally, each YMCA branch was commended for their exceptional fundraising efforts throughout the year.
A Historic Appointment
The YMCA of Greater Montgomery proudly announced the appointment of Leslie Sanders as its new Board Chair – the first woman to hold this position in the organization’s history. Mrs. Sanders’ leadership and dedication will undoubtedly propel the Y forward in its mission to serve the community.
