YMCA Swim Lessons

For people of all ages and swim abilities

Swim lessons give kids and adults the skills they need to feel confident and safe in the water. They build strength, coordination, and lifelong water safety habits while empowering swimmers to enjoy everything from family pool time to more advanced aquatic activities.

Parent/Child

Designed for children 6 months to 3 years old, this parent-child class introduces little ones to the water in a gentle, supportive environment. While it focuses on water orientation rather than independent swimming, it helps parents learn essential safety techniques they can use beyond the pool. Many families see this stage as their first step into newborn swim or infant swim programs, and it’s a great fit for those looking for mommy and me swimming experiences that build early confidence and trust in the water.

Pre-School

For ages 3–5, this program teaches fundamental water safety and aquatic skills, preparing children for the next level of swim instruction. Kids at this stage begin forming real comfort in the water, and our YMCA swimming classes support them with age-appropriate guidance that blends safety, skill-building, and fun. It’s often a family’s introduction to the long-term benefits of YMCA swim lessons as their child grows.

School Age

Our youth lessons, for ages 6–12, follow a structured progression that helps swimmers develop skills, refine strokes, and build endurance. This phase is where young swimmers begin to feel truly capable in the water, and the consistency of our swim school environment helps them advance with confidence. Many families choose these YMCA swim lessons because they offer clear milestones, supportive coaching, and a pathway toward lifelong swimming skills.

Teen/Adult

Open to ages 13 and up, this class accommodates all skill levels and offers instruction tailored to individual abilities. Whether someone is new to the water or hoping to improve technique, our adult swimming lessons provide a welcoming place to learn at any age. These swimming classes for adults are part of our broader YMCA swimming classes program, giving teens and adults the chance to gain confidence, build strength, and enjoy swimming as a lifelong skill.
