Since 1978, the Montgomery YMCA Barracudas have been the River Region’s premier competitive swim team, recognized as one of the area’s leading swim clubs for developing strong, confident athletes. We offer year-round USA/YMCA Swimming for youth of all skill levels, from beginners to national qualifiers, giving families a trusted pathway into competitive swimming. As a dedicated YMCA swim team, our program builds commitment, character, and resilience. Through expert coaching, swimmers develop refined skills, improved fitness, and the self-discipline they need to reach their full potential in and out of the water.

Joining the Barracudas means becoming part of a supportive swim club community shaped by integrity, commitment, and character. Our swimmers learn to excel both in and out of the pool through positive attitudes, goal setting, and a balance of academic and athletic success. Join the Barracudas

Ready to take your swimming to the next level? Join the Montgomery YMCA Barracudas and grow within a supportive, competitive swim environment. We offer four structured training programs designed to meet swimmers right where they are and help them rise.

Bronze – Build a strong foundation by learning the basics of all four strokes and gaining an introduction to competitive swimming. This group focuses on technique, comfort, and confidence in the water.

Silver – Strengthen your skills with training that emphasizes racing strategies, endurance, and stroke efficiency. Swimmers in this group begin refining technique while growing their competitive edge.

Gold – Push your abilities further with higher-intensity training designed to develop advanced, well-rounded competitors. Gold swimmers work toward improved speed, discipline, and consistency.

Platinum – Our top-tier group, built for dedicated athletes preparing for high-level competition, including college swimming. Training is focused, challenging, and structured to help swimmers achieve their highest potential.

Each year, over 400 volunteers and staff participate in our Annual Support Campaign to raise funds ensuring everyone, regardless of background, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Donations provide financial assistance for kids and families in need, supporting programs that address community needs. 100% of donations directly fund life-changing experiences in Montgomery and Elmore Counties.
