At the YMCA of Greater Montgomery, we are passionate about investing back into local communities through meaningful YMCA outreach programs that support youth, families, and individuals across the area. Whether it is teaching water safety, promoting wellness, or empowering students to succeed in education, our outreach initiatives go beyond physical health.

Through these community outreach programs, we work to strengthen confidence, build life skills, and provide resources that help people thrive. Our goal is to meet real needs while creating long-term impact, helping children, teens, and families build brighter futures through support, encouragement, and access to opportunity.

Community Outreach

Empowering Individuals, Strengthening Futures

Water Safety

Keeping kids safe around water is essential. The YMCA’s Safety Around Water program teaches children important skills to help prevent drowning and build confidence. In just four 30-minute lessons, kids learn how to float, swim to safety, and respond in emergencies. Through fun activities and hands-on practice, they gain the skills to stay safe while enjoying the water. Give them the confidence to explore safely!

Cancer may have changed your journey, but it doesn’t define your future. The YMCA’s LiveStrong® program helps survivors regain strength, confidence, and energy in a supportive community. With expert trainers guiding you, you’ll rebuild endurance, improve balance, and feel stronger every day. Take the next step in your recovery, because you are more than a survivor; you are unstoppable!

Rock Steady Boxing

Parkinson’s may bring challenges, but you don’t have to face them alone! Rock Steady Boxing at the YMCA helps improve balance, strength, and confidence through fun, non-contact boxing workouts. You’ll train with a supportive community, stay active, and feel stronger every day. Join us for a class, meet new friends, and discover how movement can help you fight back and keep living life to the fullest!

Dream big, work hard, and make your future bright! The Y Achievers program helps middle and high school students set high goals and reach them. With group mentoring, career exploration, and college prep, you’ll build confidence, develop leadership skills, and unlock new opportunities. Join a program where 100% graduate high school and 80% continue to college or the military. Your success starts here!

Golf Classic

Preserving our History and transforming our community. In its 12th year, the YMCA of Greater Montgomery’s annual Golf Classic brought together some of central Alabama’s strongest community leaders and supporters to raise over $90,000 to benefit the Historic Cleveland Ave YMCA.
