What Families Can Expect

A Day at Camp Chandler

Camp Chandler Day Camp gives children a way to experience the energy of camp while returning home at the end of the day. Located in Wetumpka and serving families from Montgomery and across Central Alabama, the program brings together outdoor recreation, water activities, shared meals, and time with caring Camp Chandler staff. It is a practical option for families seeking a memorable summer experience without an overnight stay.

A welcoming option for first-time campers

For a child who is new to camp, a day program can make the experience feel more approachable. Campers can try well-known Camp Chandler activities, spend time with the Chandler staff, and become familiar with the camp environment during the day. Returning home each evening gives families a familiar rhythm while children enjoy the connection, activity, and independence that make camp special.

Variety across land and water

The activity list offers many ways for campers to participate. Land activities include nature hikes, archery, sling shots, Gaga, arts and crafts, water balloons, axe throwing, and field games. Water activities include the Blob, slide, rope swing, jumping tower, canoes, pedal boats, kayaks, and fishing. This variety gives children opportunities to move, explore, create, and discover activities that interest them.

Skills, confidence, and connection

Camp experiences can help children practice cooperation, try unfamiliar activities, and build confidence through participation. Time with other campers creates opportunities for conversation, encouragement, and shared accomplishments. Camp Chandler staff support a setting where campers can have fun, form meaningful relationships, develop new skills, and create lasting memories. These experiences reflect the character-building tradition that has shaped Camp Chandler since 1928.

Meals and transportation

Hot breakfast, hot lunch, and bus transportation are provided as part of the Day Camp experience. These features can help families plan for the camp day while children stay focused on activities and time with their group. Current member and non-member rates, along with the bus transportation fee, are listed above so families can review the costs before moving to registration.
