The basketball programs at the YMCA strive to teach children the basics of the sport while participants make new friends, stay active and learn new fundamental skills. We are committed to developmental coaching with a focus on high-level passing, shooting, dribbling and defensive skills while the importance of physical fitness and conditioning is stressed.

Youth Basketball Programs for All Ages!

From first-time dribblers to league-ready players, the YMCA of Greater Montgomery offers youth basketball programs designed to help kids build confidence, improve fundamentals, stay active, and enjoy the game in a supportive and positive team environment. Current offerings on the page include a preschool parent-child program and Youth Basketball League options for grades K-8. For players seeking higher-level competition, explore our competitive sports programs or the YBL competitive league.

YMCA PreSchool Little Dribblers

Get ready for a slam-dunk experience with preschool basketball! It’s all about teaching basic skills, game scenarios, and having a blast!

This league is parent-child interactive, so you’ll be right there alongside your child, helping them build the skills and confidence they’ll need for future games.

Non-Members: $170

Youth Basketball League (YBL)

YBL Recreational League

This league is designed for recreational/developmental play with a 1/2-game playing requirement. Pre-formed teams allowed with a maximum of 10 players.

YBL Competitive League

This league is designed to be more competitive with a one quarter of play requirement. Pre-formed teams are allowed with a maximum of 12 players. Register for the location you wish to practice at.

Hoops League Non-Members ONLY can use code HOOPS to lock in $130 registration fee.

Hoops League at the Y

Hoops League at the Y offers both recreational and competitive leagues, allowing players to grow their skills in the environment that fits them best. Designed with development in mind, every player is guaranteed 50% playing time. Pre-formed teams are welcome, with a maximum roster size of 10 players.

Hoops League YMCA Partnership info: If you are a basketball family, K-3 you can sign up at the Y or Hoops League.

If you are a basketball family in grades 4-6th, then you can only sign up at the Y as Hoops League has entrusted all of their older age groups to the Y basketball program.
