A Year in review

Over the last couple of years, our YMCAs have been called to action more than ever to meet the community’s needs. The pandemic’s enduring impacts, economically and socially, are still being felt in every corner of our community. From food security to wellness, recreating to learning, the Y helps youth, families, adults, and seniors reconnect, reengage, and recover. We believe that lasting personal and social change can only come about when we all work together to invest in our kids, our health, and our neighbors. That’s why, at the Y, strengthening community is our cause and our programs are always based on the needs and interests of our communities. Outfitted with healthy meals, our Brown Bag Bus traveled to different areas in the Montgomery and surrounding communities to serve meals to families who needed it most. In 2021, the YMCA served more than 314,000 meals to our community. With a diverse representation of schools, churches, races, and age groups, we were able to impact the lives of children in our community through our inclusive youth sports programs. Such programs included summer swim league, soccer, volleyball, basketball, football, t-ball, and many more. At the Y, children and teens learn values and positive behaviors and explore their unique talents and interests, helping them realize their potential. That makes for confident kids today and contributing and engaged adults tomorrow. Last year, the Y engaged teens in positive, safe, and character-building opportunities. We found new and innovative ways to connect to teens through our programs such as Youth in Government, Y Achievers, and Power Teens to name a few. As you review our annual report, please know that all of this would not be possible without your support. We are doing life-changing work in our community, and the solid foundation on which we stand would not be possible without you.
