Member Services Associate

Age Level Swim Team Coach (East YMCA)

Salary: $10.00 – $15.00 per hour, commensurate with coaching experience

Job Description

We are looking for experienced coaches to run and assist with both age group & senior level practices. This can be multiple positions or one position for someone looking to be more involved in the program.  Time commitment ranges from 6 – 21 hours per week depending on group and availability. Coach a minimum of 1 meet per month in season. Keep all USA Swimming coaching certifications current. Work with Head Coaches to plan and implement season training plans.

Qualifications:

  • CPR/AED, Safety Training for Swim Coaches, APT, Background check and in good standing with USA Swimming 
  • Experience in registration and team software such as of Teamunify and/or Team Manager, Touchpad, or Hytek preferred  
  • Abides by applicable USA Swimming Codes of Conduct and Safe Sport Requirements and Y USA Swimming Principles of Coaching Workbook
  • Experience coaching summer swim league/ high school with one or more years of experience
  • Background in swimming
  • Lifeguard certified

Wellness Staff

Under the guidance and immediate supervision of the Supervisor and the Director of Healthy Living, Wellness Staff are responsible for member engagement including fitness evaluations and wellness orientations.  This position requires you to have basic knowledge of exercise machines and be able to give fitness orientations and assessments.

Essential Functions:

  • Create a caring, friendly, fun, and safe environment that provides opportunities for members to connect, develop relationships, and achieve their wellness
  • Perform light maintenance on the fitness floor as per the Wellness Director. Ensure that all fitness areas are organized and well supplied.  
  • Perform assigned maintenance duties to keep all pieces of equipment clean and working. 
  • Assure that all fitness areas are organized and prepared for members’ use.
  • Any questions or problems that arise should be reported directly to your supervisor.
  • Be attentive to members and their needs.
  • Follow as staff all rules and guidelines for members in the activity areas.  Set the example.
  • Instructs members in fitness orientations, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Read, know, follow and enforce emergency procedures, YMCA policies, rules, and health codes applicable to the facility.
  • Perform daily supply checks and inform the Wellness Director when supplies are running low.
  • Be responsible for all scheduled hours and if necessary, follow the appropriate substitution procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and additional college level fitness training; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Group Ex Instructor

JOB TITLE: Group Exercise Instructor
Salary: $15-25
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for teaching group exercise to members, providing a variety of exercise options for the fitness program. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

1) Meeting and assessing new members for fitness needs and providing a safe and effective program to meet those needs.

2) Leading group exercise classes with appropriate verbal instructions and clear patterns of movement.

3) Providing instructions for participants on taking their heart rate and when to decrease the intensity of the workout for their safety.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position supports the work of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery in strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required.
  3. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  5. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  6. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
  7. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  8. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  9. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum age of 16
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent
• Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

Part Time Birthday Party Specialist

parties, hosting and running all party activities and clean up after parties. Position includes

communications with parents/guardians and active engagement with youth during event. Responsible for

creating a welcoming and safe environment for all members/guest of all backgrounds and abilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides high quality customer service to all members, guests, and children involved in birthday

party.

2. Sets up community room and all other party areas for parties and cleans up after the party

3. Communicates with parents or party host the day of the party, to meet the needs and

expectations of each party.

4. Ensures check out procedures are followed and payment is made with each party for any

additional guests.

5. Problem solves and responds in an appropriate and respectful manner to any questions or

concerns brought forth by members, staff, kids, or guests.

SUMMARY

The Recreational Sports Director is responsible for organizing and implementing all

recreational youth and adult programs for the YMCA of Greater Montgomery Soccer

Branch. The ideal candidate will be expected to recommend and execute strategies

for player retention and recruitment, as well as manage team formation, game

scheduling and recreational coach development. The incumbent will be required to

spend extended hours traveling throughout the city to schools, churches and youth

groups to market our programs. The incumbent will also demonstrate leadership,

the overall member experience.

for all recreational soccer functions.

8. Prepare and manage the annual budget for recreational soccer programs within

approved budget guidelines.

9. Carries out all association policies concerning management, administration and

accounting procedures.

11. Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all programs run smoothly with a

Association Aquatics Director

SALARY: $45,000-$55,000

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Association Aquatics Director leads our Association in best practice implementation for all branches aquatic programs and services. It is also responsible for the development, implementation, administration, and supervision of the Bell Road and Goodtimes YMCA aquatics. This position will also serve branch leadership through supporting overall day-to-day operations as needed.   1. To promote, administer and lead our Association in best practice implementation for all branches aquatic programs and aquatic wellness services, including swim lessons instruction, swim lesson instructor training and lifeguard training.
  2. To develop, implement, and oversee all association swim lessons programs according to YMCA standards.
  3. Works in conjunction with Barracuda Swim Team Head Coach for YMCA of Greater Montgomery Summer Swim League.
  4. To maintain all pool operations, keep adequate records in accordance with local/State regulations, evaluate and control water chemistry to ensure no gaps in programing.
  5. Develop, schedule, and manage the Association monthly training calendar for association staff training in CPR/1st Aid/AED

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth Development Director at the Wetumpka YMCA oversees the development and operations of the year-round child care programs (afterschool & day camp) and summer aquatics programs, ensuring the programs meet intended goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manages the school-age child care program and aquatics programs, including developing and monitoring the program budget to meet fiscal objectives; compiling program statistics to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in the program; securing, scheduling, and maintaining the needed facilities; creating and scheduling the activities or events; and maintaining program records or files.
  2. Ensures programs and services meet community needs to include supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  3. Assures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations and conducts and ensures proper maintenance of pools. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
  4. Reviews program plans and records to ensure consistency with evidence-based best practices.
  5. Recruits and hires diverse staff and volunteer teams across multiple dimensions of diversity. Onboards and develops them for success. Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete. Maintains staff schedules and evaluates staff performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • One to two years related experience (e.g., supervisor or coordinator of child care programs, aquatics coordinator) preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Within 30 days of hire, completion of Child Abuse Prevention, Working with Program Volunteers, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training, Class B CDL with passenger endorsement.
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards and completion of YMCA program-specific training including aquatics training and trainer certifications.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
