Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Site Director, the counselor is expected to supervise, manage and interact with the children registered in the Goodtimes program. Work hours are from 2:45pm – 6:00pm.

Days:
Monday through Friday except school holidays but have the option to work on holidays.

Qualifications:
Must be at least 17 years old, undergoing professional preparation to be a leader of young children or having experience with elementary age children. Must be willing to fulfill the counselor’s responsibilities in accordance with the YMCA’s philosophy and goals. CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. To supervise and interact appropriately with all children in the program according to prescribed YMCA standards.
  2. To plan, implement and participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to, weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.
  3. Be responsible for the safety of program participants at all times.
  4. Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, program participants and other staff.
  5. Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
  6. To complete all required documentation for the program.
  7. Responsible for maintenance and care of equipment and supplies.
  8. To help with housekeeping tasks as necessary.

JOB DESCRIPTION
This position supports the work of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery in strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Lifeguard creates a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while promoting and maintain safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck and surrounding areas in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required.
  3. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  5. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  6. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
  7. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  8. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  9. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum age of 16
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent
• Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

Membership Director (Bell road YMCA)

• Bachelor’s degree in related field
• Minimum of three years of supervisory experience, including experience in customer service.

Program Director (Britton Y)

The Program Director will be in charge of the administration of local programs for teens, including development, implementation, and evaluation, as well as assisting at local, state, and national conferences. Duties will include recruiting and training volunteers and staff, maintaining computerized registration system for programs and conferences, maintaining web pages, supervision of part time staff, and other duties as assigned. Program Director will have hands-on responsibilities with teen programs and must be able to relate to junior and senior high students positively

Qualifications:

General Responsibilities and Functions

 Attend club meetings periodically throughout the school year to present upcoming program information, recruit participants and answer relevant questions.
 Attend school and other events to build relationships with participants and parents.
 Work with the Interpersonal Relations Youth Leadership group that participates in a Big Buddy / Little Buddy Program.
 Assist with the organization and implementation of both the YMCA Man of the Year and The Jimmy Hitchcock Award.

Youth in Government
 Prepare local Student YMCAs and Government Clubs to attend conferences.
 Attend weekend training retreats for all Youth in Government conferences. Organize and lead student leadership activities. Prepare or create program materials for retreats
 Assist in preparation of conference materials and logistics as needed. Attend all Youth in Government conferences, retreats, and trainings.

Christian Values Conference
 Recruit and prepare local delegation to attend conference and raise funds.
 Work alongside conference leadership during event and assist conference director with logistics and execution.
 Travel to North Carolina YMCA retreat center for weeklong conference.

Conference on National Affairs
 Attend weekend training retreat for Alabama participants. Prepare students and coordinate charter bus travel for group of 25.
 Compile and prepare conference materials for all participants, volunteers, and staff for 700-member conference.
 Travel to North Carolina YMCA retreat center for weeklong conference.

Essential Functions
 Recruit, train and supervise program volunteers and staff concerning the program philosophies and the mission of the YMCA.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Site Director will be responsible for the overall management and supervision of a school site. Each site contains between 15 and 90 children between the ages of 5 and 12 years old. The children to staff ratio is maintained at 15:1.

Days:
Monday through Friday except school holidays.

Qualifications:
Professional preparation as a teacher of young children. Prefer an emphasis in Early Childhood Education and Development. Other acceptable fields include Physical Education, Recreation, Social Work, Program Administration, Psychology, and Sociology. Must be sensitive and mature, able to relate with both children and adults. Need a strong personality and an ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity. CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Recreational Sports Director is responsible for organizing and implementing all recreational youth and mini-soccer programs for the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. This position will be responsible for the overall member program experience. The ideal candidate will be expected to recommend and execute strategies for player retention and recruitment, as well as manage team formation, game scheduling and recreational coach development. The incumbent will be required to spend extended hours traveling throughout the city to schools, churches and youth groups to market our programs. The incumbent will also demonstrate leadership, show enthusiasm, work efficiently while paying attention to detail and display a positive and professional attitude at all times. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for upholding the Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Organize and implement all recreational youth and mini-soccer programs. (Including creating teams/rosters, scheduling games, ordering uniforms, ordering awards, securing coaches, creating information sheets, securing referees, conducting coaches meeting, Coaches training and other tasks required to have a successful recreational program).
  2. Create partnership/relationships with local schools, churches and day care centers.
  3. Attend School functions and volunteer to run school physical education classes.
  4. Attend recreational games to evaluate the program’s effectiveness.
  5. Volunteer to conduct clinics for local churches and other youth programs to market our recreational programs.
  6. Recruit, hire, train, schedule and supervise all volunteer coaches and volunteers for all recreational soccer functions.
  7. Design and develop marketing materials for each program.
  8. Conduct end of season surveys for each program.
  9. Prepare and manage the annual budget for the Recreational and Mini-soccer programs within approved budget guidelines.
  10. Carries out all association policies concerning management, administration and accounting procedures.
  11. Communicates positively and effectively with all participants, volunteers and staff, including timely response to emails and phone calls and requests for information.
  12. Promote, monitor, evaluate and ensure that all programs run smoothly with a high level of service to participants.
  13. Effectively build relationships with members and participants.
  14. Create a welcoming environment for members and participants.
  15. Assist the Vice President with CCS program and major events being hosted by the Montgomery YMCA at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex or Indoor Arena.
  16. Secure team sponsorships for recreational teams.
  17. Assist the Vice President in the Annual Campaign.
    18. Organize and implement all Adult Recreational programs.
  18. Other duties/task as assigned by the Vice President

CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR certification required (or within 30 days of employment)
