Member Services Associate

Housekeeping

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Housekeeping Director, Housekeeping staff is responsible for assisting
members and other staff to consistently maintain a clean, sanitary, and attractive facility, including such
duties as mopping, dusting, laundry, and trash removal. May complete duties related to window washing,
meeting set up, pressure washing, snow removal, groundskeeping, and other related responsibilities.

Qualifications:

  • Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment.
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

  • Ensures Y is attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and
    maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. May perform wet and dry mopping, dusting,

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with other YMCA staff, members, and guests.

Senior Level Swim Team Coach (East YMCA)

Job Description

Before and After School Counselor

Job Title:  Before and After School Counselor

Salary:  $10

Job description

Under the direction and supervision of the Site Director, the counselor is expected to supervise, manage and interact with the children registered in the Goodtimes program. Work hours are from 6:45am – 8:30 am and 2:30pm – 6:00pm.  Days: August 10, 2023 – May 23, 2024 Monday through Friday except school holidays but have the option to work on holidays.

 Qualifications:
Must be at least 17 years old, undergoing professional preparation to be a leader of young children or having experience with elementary age children. Must enjoy working with children. Must be willing to fulfill the counselor’s responsibilities in accordance with the YMCA’s philosophy and goals. CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • To supervise and interact appropriately with all children in the program according to prescribed YMCA standards.
  • To plan, implement and participate in all scheduled activities including, but not limited to, weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.

Wellness Staff

Under the guidance and immediate supervision of the Supervisor and the Director of Healthy Living, Wellness Staff are responsible for member engagement including fitness evaluations and wellness orientations.  This position requires you to have basic knowledge of exercise machines and be able to give fitness orientations and assessments.

Essential Functions:

  • Create a caring, friendly, fun, and safe environment that provides opportunities for members to connect, develop relationships, and achieve their wellness
  • Perform light maintenance on the fitness floor as per the Wellness Director. Ensure that all fitness areas are organized and well supplied.  
  • Perform assigned maintenance duties to keep all pieces of equipment clean and working. 
  • Assure that all fitness areas are organized and prepared for members’ use.
  • Any questions or problems that arise should be reported directly to your supervisor.
  • Be attentive to members and their needs.
  • Follow as staff all rules and guidelines for members in the activity areas.  Set the example.
  • Instructs members in fitness orientations, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Read, know, follow and enforce emergency procedures, YMCA policies, rules, and health codes applicable to the facility.
  • Perform daily supply checks and inform the Wellness Director when supplies are running low.
  • Be responsible for all scheduled hours and if necessary, follow the appropriate substitution procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and additional college level fitness training; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Group Ex Instructor

JOB TITLE: Group Exercise Instructor
Salary: $15-25
The Group Exercise Instructor is responsible for teaching group exercise to members, providing a variety of exercise options for the fitness program. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greater Montgomery is responsible for modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character – caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

1) Meeting and assessing new members for fitness needs and providing a safe and effective program to meet those needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
  2. Knows and reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies, procedures, and the “safe-in-six” model; completes related reports as required.
  3. Responds to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
  4. Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area.
  5. Remains calm and objective when under pressure or when challenged by others.
  6. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state health department code.
  7. Performs equipment checks and ensures appropriate equipment is available as needed.
  8. Checks the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
  9. Performs chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and takes appropriate action.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum age of 16
• Certifications: Basic life support or professional rescuer CPR/AED, first aid, and emergency oxygen administration
• Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or equivalent
• Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date
• Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards

1. To promote, administer and lead in the development and implementation of aquatic programs and aquatic
