YMCA Learning Academy
The YMCA’s Learning Academy will provide students with a safe environment for distant learning when they can’t be in school. The program will be hosted at the East YMCA, Goodtimes YMCA, and Cleveland YMCA and will include academic support and enrichment programs with a holistic focus (body • mind • spirit). The program will be offered from 7 AM to 6 PM.
Throughout the day, students will receive help with access to their online learning portals. There will also be opportunities for students to access some of their favorite YMCA activities such as devotion, arts and crafts time, games, and recreational activities. Lunch and snack will be provided.

YMCA Learning academy manual
Please make sure your child has a laptop/chrome book (fully charged every night), headphones, the charging cable, face mask, refillable water bottle and backpack with school supplies they will need to do their schoolwork each day. Please label your child’s name on everything.
Your child should follow their school dress code including closed-toed shoes.
Be sure to send with your child all login and password information and a daily schedule with all the teacher’s names. Without this, the counselors cannot help your child login. Also, make sure that your child has the necessary apps needed.
If you receive school assignments or additional meetings that you did not know about before dropping your child off, please do not call the YMCA with this information. Send a detailed email with your child’s name, school, grade and teacher that includes any schedule changes or different meeting/passcode info.
You should stay in contact with your child’s teacher each day. The children will be using headphones, so we do not know what their assignments are. The YMCA is providing a place for your child to do their virtual learning, but we are not teaching your child. You will still need to make sure your child is doing their assignments every night.
Lunch and snack are provided by us or can be brought from home. Children will have some outside time, gym time or playground time. Arts and crafts along with other indoor activities will also be available each day. Once they have had a break from schoolwork, we will have a snack and homework time so they can work on assignments. If they don’t have any assignments, they can use this time to read, color or do activity sheets.
Please make sure your child is here 30 minutes prior to login. That gives them time to get to their group and set up.
For drop off, you will pull up to the door and stay in your car while your child gets out and has his/her temperature checked and enters the building.
If your child runs a fever of 100.4 or higher, they will not be able to return to the program without medical clearance from a physician.
