Flowers Bakery Donates to Camp Grandview
About three years ago, George Martin, President; and Bret Rape, Human Resources Manager for Flowers Bakery were encouraged by the then CEO of the company to get involved in outreach to their community that would help young children. On a quest to fulfill that challenge, George and Bret stopped by the Grandview YMCA. They had heard it was a great YMCA Camp and wanted to see for themselves.
They met Executive Director, Bill Myers, and were impressed with all the camp had to offer. They immediately invested in Camp Grandview and have faithfully done so over the last three years. In fact, they are able to share the story of the YMCA to their employees, their employees give to our YMCA so generously, and Flowers Bakery matches their donations.
Their donations have helped to improve the Grandview YMCA kitchen in significant ways. The kitchen which serves the nearly 600 kids the Grandview YMCA hosts each week in the summer alone, is one of the many tools we used to serve nearly 399,000 meals to children in our community this last year. Thank you, George, Bret, and Flowers Bakery for your continued investment in our Grandview YMCA.
